GALLANTRY AT SEA
AWARDS TO CORNWELL’S CREW CAPTAIN F. C. PRETTY DECORATED [ Pet- Press Association. J WELLINGTON, Feb. 6. Awards for gallantry at sea have been made to Captain F. C. Pretty, D.S.C., the chief engineer, the chief officer, the steward in charge, and members of the crew of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Federal liner Cornwall. Mr. C. M. Turrell, director and genera! manager of the company, has received a cable message from Mr. C. J. Cowan, chairman of the London board of directors, stating that the following awards for war services have been announced in the London Gazette: — 0.8. E., Civil Division.—Capt. F. C. Pretty, D.S.C., commander; A. Drummond, chief engineer. M.8.E., Civil Division.—J. I. Jesse, steward in charge. Commended.—M. A. Thomas, chief officer. British Empire Medal. —Mr. Frater, ship’s carpenter; Mr. Dabner, able seaman.
