BOMBED AIRCRAFT CARRIER

H.M.S. ILLUSTRIOUS Received Feb. 6. 8.40 p.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 5. The Secretary of the Navy, Colonel Frank Knox, told a Press conference that the aircraft carrier Illustrious recently had been able to reach Malta and then Alexandria under her own power after a direct hit by a 10001 b bomb which killed 80 men and destroyed 20 planes. The explosion did not affect the power or the navigability of the vessel.
