LONDON, Feb. 5. ■ Enemy activity over the metropolis to-night (Wednesday) was intermittent, but incendiaries and high explosives were dropped in a number of districts on the outskirts. Two high explosives in one area damaged houses, the majority of the occupants of which had gone to a shelter, but there were about a dozen casualties. Waves of raiders passed a southeast coast town. Twenty incendiaries were dropped. Fire was caused in a hotel, but was quickly controlled. [ British Official Wireless. | RUGBY, Feb. 5. An Air Ministry communique states that R.A.F. aircraft were active ovei the English Channel and north-west France on Wednesday. A number of fighter patrols were maintained, resulting in the destruction of an enemy bomber over the Channel during the morning and a second during the afternoon. Early in the afternoon a squadron of bombers escorted by a large fighter force, carried out a sweep over Northern France during which the aerodrome at St. Omer was successfully attacked. Two enemy aircraft were shot down in combat and five British fighters are missing. An Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security communique states that there was some enemy activity off the east and south-east coasts on Wednesday, but very few enemy aircraft flew inland. Bombs were dropped in north-east Scotland and in Kent, but these did no damage and there were no casualties.

It Is officially announced in Dublin that a German plane crashed in the vicinity of Schull. Five of the crew were killed and one was seriously injured. The plane was wrecked.
