WAITOTARA. Mrs. Olsen Jun., whose husband is in camp at Trentham, has arrived Iron; Auckland with her two children anti will spend several weeks with Mrs. Olsen sen. Miss Armstrong ha.-, returned from a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. G. Webster has returned from Christchurch and is staying with her mother, Mrs. I. D. Blackie. Miss Gunn, has arrived to take up an appointment as assistant mistress at Waitotara School. Mr. B. S. Whiteside, who has been appointed headmaster at Orangirnea School, arrived from the Auckland district last week. Mr. and Mrs. E. Doyle- and family have been spending a holiday at Otaki. Miss McKnight has been appointed assistant teacher at Orangiinea, and Miss Johansen Ims gone to Ashhurst School. Mrs. C. Hodgetts and daughter Mary have returned from Taranaki. Mrs. Bowler. Nukumartt, has been spending a holiday in Auckland. Mr. Clifton Fitzgerald, who is relieving headmaster at Waitotara, is no stranger to the district. He lived here for some years when his father was headmaster at the local school. MARTON. At the committee meeting of the Marion Bowling Club on Wednesday evening, the president (Mr. F. A. Hcmpleman) referred to the tragic death of Mr. Roy Rivers, who was one of the most prominent members on the Marton green and highly respected by his fellow-bowlers. They deeply regretted his untimely death and a vote of sympathy to his relatives was carried by the members in silence. Mr. A. W. Trotter, noxious weeds inspector for the Rangitikei County Council, goes into camp next Wednesday. Mr. George Meredith, formerly of Marton and now of Wanganui, was 'a visitor to Marton this week. MATAROA. Miss Raeione Williams has returned to St. Cuthbert’s College, Auckland, after spending the school vacation with her parents, Mr. 'and Mrs. W. J. Williams. Ross Bremner has gone back to school at Scot’s College, Wellington. Miss Edna Gorrie, of Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs. W. J. Williams, has returned to her home. Billy Treadwell left on Wednesday for Wanganui, where he becomes a pupil of St. George’s. Miss Dorothy Bruce was successful in passing her matriculation examination and has gone back to the Wanganui Girls’ College.
