STORTFORD LODGE
HASTINGS, Feb. 5. A firm market ruled for lambs at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day, when there was a large yarding of 12,000 sheep, of which 10,000 were lambs. Medium-grown lambs doing well brought from 16s 6d to 17s lid, smaller 14s 6d to 15s 6d, and small Ils to 13s 3d. The wethers penned were negligible. Interest was again at a low ebb for breeding ewes, most of which were five-year-olds. They made 13s 8d for the best pens and others with failing mouths brought Ils. Fairmouthed six-year ewes brought 10s 9d. Two-tooth ewes showing fine wool cross were slow to trade at 225. Prices for female fat cattle advanced sharply by from 25s to 30s a head because of there being a yarding of only 95 head, of which 20 were vealers. Heifers made £9 8s 6d to £ll Ils, cow beef £7 13s 6d to £lO 13s Cd, and vealers and runners £2 5s to £7 Is. There was only a small entry of 100 head of store cattle. Sheers in good order brought £6 2s 6d, other lots being passed.
