BEING SENT TO CHINA HAS SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OF THAT COUNTRY [By Telegraph—J’rets Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb L The United States Minister to Australia, Mr. Clarence Gause, is being transferred to China because of his special knowledge of that country and its customs. His post in Australia is to be filled by Mr. Nelson Johnson, who has been United States Minister in China. The change-over has been approved by the Australian Government. Chungking reports that the Chinese Government announced that it officially approved Mr. Gause replacing Mr. Johnson. The Chinese Press said that Mr. Gause is going to China as soon as possible, and added that he commands a widespread friendshinp in China.
