It is reliably reported that, plans for naval co-operation between the British, the United States and Dutch navies'have reached a point where protection of the interests of the three Powers in South-east Asia is assured. It is stated that all the British and Netherlands bases in that, locality will be available for vessels of the United States in the evqpt. of hostilities, and vice-versa. British naval strength locally is very formidable. I'he Dutch is said to include live cruisers, 12 destroyers. 20 submarines, and TOO aeroplanes. In addition the United States Asiatic Fleet’s strength, based on Manila, is the greatest in history. Preparations include the distribution of supplies of gasoline, oil and munitions to strategic harbours throughout the Philippines. The defences of Manila are virtually impregnable.
