NEW HEAD TEACHER

QUEEN’S PARK SCHOOL

FAREWELLED AT PATEA

Mr. C. P. Bates, headmaster of the Patea School, who has been appointed headmaster of the Queen's Park School, Wanganui, was farewelled on Thursday night in the Patea Town Hall. For the School Committee and Parents' Association, Mr. R. E. Moore praised Mr Bates’ services at the school and wished him and Mrs. Bates every success. He presented Mr. Bates with a set of pipes as a token of esteem. For the School's Athletic Association, Rev. Father Rohan presented Mr. Bates with a clock, and mentioned his good work for athletics in Patea. In acknowledging the gifts, Mr. Bates thanked the different speakers for their remarks and said both he and Mrs. Bates would always retain happy recollection of their stay in Patea. Items were given by Mr. Fair, Mrs. Julian and Miss Mawhinncy.
