MISSING IN GREECE
AN OPUNAKE PILOT FETING-OFFICER R. D. CAMPBELL
( Per Press Association. ] HAWERA, Jan. 10. As a result of ait operations over Greece on Monday, Flying-Officer Robert Douglas Campbell, aged 22, eldest son of the late Mr. R. Camp-; bell and Mrs. J. P. O’Sullivan, Ihaia ' Road, Opunake, is missing. ; After leaving school, Flying-Officer | Campbell, who was born at Hamilton I and educated at the Opunake primary I school and district high school and j later at New Plymouth, worked for 1 the Opunake Power Board. He was . also a member of the New Plymouth I Aero Club, gaining his A licence as a pupil of Flight-Lieutenant lan Keith. 1 He left for England in June, 1938 ; and qualified for a short-service commission in the Royal Air Force, being; transferred shortly afterward to the ’ Middle East command. He took part ■ in several raids on Tobruk. . Flying-Officer Campbell was trans- i ferred to Greece soon after the outbreak of war there, being in charge of , the transport of his squadron and re-. ceiving his promotion to the rank of i flying-officer soon after his arrival. , He mentioned his warm admiration : of the spirit of the Greek troops in letters home. He also witnessed thei celebration of the fall of Korea. .

Private William Charles Lane, died of | sickness. January 8, 1941. Hisi mother is Mrs. L. S. Harkin, Pollen j Street, Thames.
