RANGITIKEI GOLF CLUB (Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Oct. 15. The senior and middleweight championships of the Rangitikei Golf Club were played oft over 36 holes during the week-end, in a strong westerly gale. In the senior game N. H. Amon defeated R. F. Scott, 6 up and 5 to play. Following are the rounds:— Morning.—Out: Amon 42, Scott 44. In: Amon 37, Scott 41. Afternoon.—Out: Amon 38, Scott 38. In: Amon 19 (for four holes), Scott 18 (for four holes). In the middleweight game K. Field defeated G. Bertram 3 up and 2 to play. Following are the rounds: — Morning.—Out: Field 46, Bertram 44. In: Field 44, Bertram 43. Afternoon.—Out: Field 43, Bertram 48. In: Field 35 (for seven holes), Bertram 33 (for seven holes). BULLS WOMEN’S INSTITUTE A meeting of the Bulls Women's Instittue was held on Monday, Mrs. Jackson presiding over a fair attendance of members. An apology was received from the secretary, Mrs. Vile. Mrs. Farrer was farewelled by members, and wished the best of luck in her new home. Two new members, Mrs. and Miss Waugh, were welcomed. Mrs. Huddleston gave a general report on the preparation and despatch of soldiers’ parcels, 108 of which have been sent away, and a vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs. Huddleston for taking charge of the work. Members were also reminded to hand in books, magazines and other suitable reading matter for our soldiers. An interesting demonstration of making gloves for men on minesweepers was given by Mrs. Tricker. The social half-hour was very enjoyable, items being rendered by the following:—Miss May Kearney (solo), Mrs. J. Tricker, jun. (solo), and Mrs. Carson (pianoforte solo). The “naming’ competition was won by Mrs. Carson. The monthly competitions resulted as follows: Best Bloom.—Mrs. Smart 1, Mrs. G. Ellery 2, Mrs. Ross 3. Antirrhinum. —Mrs. Howard 1, Mrs. Ross 2. Marmalade. —Mrs, Clark 1, Mrs. Tricker 2, Mrs. Witherington 3. Bottle of Sauce.—Miss Waugh. At the next institute meeting a flower show will be held. The next-of-kin of our boys overseas are invited to attend. Mesdames Tricker, Young and Huddleston were appointed delegates to the National Patriotic Committee. An invitation was received to attend the Marton Institute dance. The meeting closed with the National Anthem.
