BUCKLE SAVES LIFE

A BULLET DEFLECTED A buckle saved Mrs. Dorothy May Hardy, of Bordon, Hampshire, from death or very serious injury when a sentry fired at her car. Wnen challenged by the sentry at Bordon Camp, Mrs. Hardy stopped the car, which then started to run backward down the sloping road. The sentry, apparently thinking the driver was "running away,’ fired. The bullet hit Mrs. Hardy in the chest, was deflected by a buckle and passed through her right thign.
