WAVERLEY. Mrs. Simpson, Dannevirke, is spending a holiday at Waverley as the guest of Mrs. F. Sheppard. Nurse M. O’Reilly, who was the guest of her mother, Mrs. C. O’Reilly, for several days, has returned to the Palmerston Public Hospital. Mrs. S. C. McGorrery is a Wanganui visitor to Waverley as the guest of Mrs. D. H. McGorrery. MARTON Mr. and Mrs. H. Ball, Brooklyn, Wellington, are visiting Marton as the guests of Mrs. Dommett, William Street. Miss M. Tolley, who has been stationed at the Railway bookstall, Marton Junction, has been transferred to Te Kuiti. Miss E. Labes, teacher in the Secondary department at the Marton District High School, who has been ill for some time, was obliged to enter hospital at the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Gant, of Sumner, Christchurch, are visiting their daughter, Mrs. F. T. Harper, High Street. OHAKUNE Miss 0. Gould, of Wellington, was the guest of Mrs. P. O'Donnell during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thomas are at present visiting'Auckland. TAIHAPE At Saturday's meeting of the Rangitikei A. and P. Association it was decided to write to Messrs. Stronach Smith and Arthur Batley, who are members of the committee, conveying Christmas greetings to them and wishing them every success. Mr. Smith is serving with the Royal Air Force in England, while Mr. Batley is undergoing a course of training with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. A presentation of a fountain pen and pocket wallet was made to the Taihape Scoutmaster, Mr. N. Mudford, at the 14th annual scout birthday party on Friday evening. Mr. Mudford has enlisted for service with the navy and left last night for examination at Auckland. The presentation was made by Scout Glenny on behalf of the committee, Scouts and friends. Mr. Mudfor 1 xeelingly responded.
