RANGATAUA CHILDREN’S PATRIOTIC GESTURE i 112 ODD FOR LONDON FUND Children attending the Rangataua school, by 41 votes to 10, decided to devote £l2 18s 9d. monej raised for their annual Christmas treat, to the fund being raised by the Lord Mayor of London for relief of war distress in that city. It has been a custom for some years in Rangataua to give ail the children of the district a Christmas Eve treat. This year a ballot (not a show of hands) was in the school to decide three issues: (1) Should the Christmas treat beheld as usual? (2) Shoud the money be held for a treat next year? (3) Should the balance in hand be sent to children in London? Children in Standard I and higher , voted, and the result was overwhelm-' ingly in favour of the children in Lon- ; don receiving the money. It has been • forwarded to the “Chronicle” and was • acknowledged in yesterday’s issue. |
