WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, October 14, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred near Norfolk Island and is extending southward to the North Island. One of a series of westerly depressions is located in the south Tasman Sea. Forecast. —Winds: From a westerly quarter prevailing with northwesterlies gradually predominating, force mainly moderate at first but becoming strong to-morrow in exposed positions. A change to fresh south-westerlies is likely later in the far south. Seas (N.Z. waters): Moderate inshore on the east coast, otherwise rather rough to rough, reaching gale force at times in the south; seas rather rough in the Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong winds from a westerly quarter probably northern portion, elsewhere rough to very rough. Weather: Becoming unsettled in Westland and Southland with intermittent rain developing from the west. Changeable over the Auckland province and later in Taranaki with scattered showers, elsewhere fair to tine. Temperatures mild east of the ranges, otherwise moderate. Some moderate frosts to-night in sheltered positions. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report as follows for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Hours of sunshine, 4 houis 10 minutes. Rainfall, .Ilin. Maximum temperature, 61deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature, 42deg. Fahr.
