BROWN SHIELD MATCH TARANAKI’S CHALLENGE COOK’S GARDENS FIXTURE Taranaki’s challenge for the Brown Shield, the soccer trophy which was regained from Manawatu recently by the Wanganui representatives, will be met by the Wanganui team on Cook’s Gardens to-morrow. Although Taranaki is reported to be sending down a strong team, the Wanganui team has had the experience of playing together against Manawatu. If Wanganui can reproduce the form it showed at Palmerston North, it should retain the trophy. A closely-contested match is indicated, and it should be worthy of generous support on the part of Wanganui followers of the soccer code.

Although chief interest will centre on the senior game, the junior representative match which is being staged as a curtain-raiser should also produce football of a high order.' The referee for the senior match will be Mr. J. Thomson, and for the junior match Mr. A. Thomson. The manager of the Wanganui senior team will be Mr. C. Makie, and Mr. H. Ward will act as manager of the junior team. Messrs. F. H. Killeen and A. Thomson will be the linesmen. Mr. G. H. Bridson is the manager of the Taranaki senior team, and Mr. R. Rae will be the manager of the Taranaki juniors. The following are the respective teams:— Taranaki Seniors. Woodd, Murdock, Hodder, Nicoll, Hindle, Baldwin, Ledbury, Tringham, Pengelly, Twaddle, Williams. Taranaki Juniors. Urquhart, Holmes, Broughton, Interman, Lovell, Edwards, Ellison, Meuli, Brewer, Simpson, Quinlan. Wanganui Seniors. Stewart, Proudfoot, Patteson, Humphries, Whiting, Nimmo, Carter. Kidd, Breed, Kidd. Darby. Reserves: Raynor, Good. Ross. Wanganui Juniors. Couglin, Hicks, Breed Nagel, Paul, Garner, Ross, Arddl. Nimmo, Wazid Ali, Jeffreys. Reserves: Crabbe, Managh, Smith, Kerwin, Brewer, Hopper, Gould, McNicol. The third grade matches, at Helmore Street, at 10 a.m., are as follows: Intermediate A v. Aramoho; Intermediate B v.
