FIFTY YEARS’ PROFESSION IN SOCIETY OF MARY
FORMER WANGANUI PARISH PRIEST VERY REV. DEAN J. R. HOLLEY The Very Rev. Dean J. R. S.M., parish priest at Blenheim, who was parish priest at Wanganui from 1911 to 1916, attains the 50th. anniversary of his profession in the Society of Mary to-day. The occasion will be marked at Blenheim by Solemn High Mass and the presentation of other functions. Fifteen priests from various parts ot New Zealand will be attending the celebrations. Dean Holley’s charge of the Blenheim parish, covering three terms, extends over 20 years. He was also stationed at Wanganui, Timaru and Napier. He was New Zealand Provincial of the Marist Order from 1916 to 1920 He is the second New Zealander to reach a golden jubilee in membership of the Order, the first one being the late Dr. D. Kennedy. Dean Holley's ordination as a priest came two years after his profession lin the Society of Mary.
