SOCIAL AFTERNOON (Own Correspondent.) WAVERLEY, Aug. 13. A very successful social afternoon was held on Friday afternoon in St Andrew’s Hall by the mothers of the Plunket Society, to raise funds to help this branch. A competition held during the afternoon was won by Mrs. M. Bromiley. The programme presented was as follows: Piano solo, Barham’s Waltz in A Flat,” Beryl Pepper, play, “Bring Up Tommy,” by Mesdames Ross and R. Southcombe; vocal solo, “Danny Boy," Mrs. R. Lennox, accompanist, Mrs, Mortimer; tap dance, Joyce Oakenfull and Alama Southcombe; playette, by Mrs. MciKinnon and Mrs. Smith; vocal solo, | Mrs. R. Southcombe, accompanist, I Mrs. Howie. I At the conclusion of the programme ■ afternoon was served I THIRD GRADE RUGBY | After playing the last game of the season on the local domain on SaturIday, Waverley thirds were successful [in defeating Technical Old Boys by 11 'points to 3. It was a very interestiJig match to watch and considered by Waverley players one of the hardest games of the season. The score at halftime was Waverley 8, Technical Old Boys 3. One try'each was scored by K. Prout, J. Beirne and T. Hickford, and P. Bowler converted one. Waverley’s team was D. Morrison, K. Prout, R. Aiken, C. Bosher, T. Hickford, P. Bosher, J. Beirne, B. Hone, L. Wisnoski, F. Dick, R. Sheppard, G. Bailey, K. Nielson, R. McDonald, L. Oliver. ... The referee was Mr. G. Foster,
