TURAKINA BRANCH The Turakina branch held its monthly meeting in St. Andrew's Hall on July 25, when a good attendance of members was presided over Uf the president, Mrs. Harris. Apologies were received from Mrs. C. Perry and Miss Cameron. Present were: Mesdames J. A. Harris (president), F. Johnstone (secretary), R. M. Baldwin, Grice, W. Glasgow, N. G. Glasgow, Ralphe, Lowe, Cameron, Brown, Major, Jones, and Tew, and Misses K. Quinlin, B. Baldwin, Wilson and O. Bourn. The meeting opened with a prayer for peace, followed by the women’s creed. Miss Isia Glasgow was enrolled as a new member. Mrs. Harris gave a very full and , interesting report of the conference I held in Wellington recently. Mrs. Johnstone presented a very pleasing balance-sheet of the very successful dance held last month, the Navy League benefiting considerably from this effort. Mrs. Harris took the opportunity of thinking all those who had helped to make the dance the success it undoubtedly was. It was with regret the resignation of Mrs. Jones, as Press correspondent, was received, and a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded her for her good work in the past. Mrs. Tew was elected to take her place. The competitions for next montn are plain scones, the best bloom, and a purse competition. The hostesses for next month are Mrs. Baldwin, Misses B. Baldwin and N. Cameron. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair, after which those present adjourned to partake of a very enjoyable -afternoon tea and social hour.
