Dannevirke A fast and pleasant match was played between Wanganui Girls’ College and Dannevirke High -School. The visitors proved the victors by six goals to one. Although Dannevirke won by such a margin, this did not show that they were superior to the Wanganui team. The game was fast and exciting from the start. In the first half Wanganui were pressing in the visitors’ circle most of the time but could not finish and the Wanganui forwards were inclined to get out of position. From the circle the Dannevirke forwards got going and scored their first goal. The play was then centred about half-way for a time but just before the half-time whistle the Dannevirke girls scored their second goal. The next spell was started off very fast and for a time the ball was from one end of the field to the other. Play was very even at this stage. Dannevirke again started their passing rushes and outpaced the Wanganui girls and scored four goals in a very short time. The game finished with Dannevirke well in front with 6 goals to 1. The teams were: — Dannevirke High School.—Joan Norton. Betty Thirkell, June Williams, Marjorie Peters, Audrey Lash, Rangi Paewai, Kay Ayres. Vivian Duncan, Molly Ingram, Pat Donaldson, Hellny Zadey. Reserves: Ruth Russell, Dorothy Allardice. Wanganui Girls’ College.—Hazel Hansen, Mona Cook, Joan Haare, J. Hoe, Alma Bennett, K. O’Toole, Barbara Bignal, L. Sadler, Barbara McNie, Jean Glasgow, Saxon Bullock. Scores were made by Molly Ingram (4) Pat Donaldson (1), and Hellny Zady (1). For Girls’ College, Barbara McNie (1).
