MILITARY APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED
LIEUTENANT-COLONEL W. S. McCRORIE TO COMMAND THE NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE The appointment of LieutenantColonel W. S. McCrorie, Wanganui, as group commander of the Nationa*. Military Reserve in the Wanganui military district, is announced. He succeeds Lieutenant-Colonel F. K. Turnbull, who has been given command of an infantry battalion in Trentham. Lieutenant-Colonel McCrorie, who at one time commanded the First Battalion of the Wellington West Coast Regiment, was placed on the reserve of officers after his four years in command of the battalion, ending October, 1937. Lie has had 33 years military service. From 1904-15 he was in the New Zealand Enigneers, Dunedin, and from 1915-16 served in the First New Zealand Expeditionary Force with the Second Field Company of the Engineers as a subaltein and three months as adjutant of the Divisional Engineers in New Zetuand and Gallipoli. From 1916 to 1920 he wds on the New Zealand Temporary Staff as area officer in Area 45 (Dunedin), and was adjutant of the Fourth Otago Regiment, and served 1920-37 in the First Battalion of the Wellington West Coast Regiment, the last four years in command, Lieutenant-Colonel McCrorie has been awarded the 1914-15 Star, War Medal, Victory Meciai, V.D., and Jubilee Medal. As his new appointment is not a full-time task he will remain in Wanganui, carrying on business as usual.
