BADMINTON

GONVILLE CLUB ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS There was an attendance of 20 members at last night’s annual meeting of the Gonville Badminton Club, over which Mr. J. T. Owen presided. The annual report stated that matches were played with Wanganui and outside clubs and were keenly looked forward to by members. The matches were played as follows: — Manawatu Central Club, at Palmerston North won 18-9, at Wanganui won 22-2; Hawera Club, at Wanganui won 20-4; Wanganui Club, won 14-9 and 16-8; Imlay Club, won 14-10; St. Paul’s Club, won 27-5; Regimental Club, won 17-7. The following were congratulated on winning titles at the annual association tournament: —Miss T. Greaves, women’s singles, doubles and combined; A. Holroyd, combined doubles. The following members represented their association tn interpiovinclal matches: Messrs. A Hoiroyd, R. M. Broad, I. D. Low, N. Owen, H. P. Millward and N. D. Cullen; Misses T. Greaves, E. Low, D. Winter and E. Craig. All competitions drew large entries and were keenly contested. The following are the results: Women’s singles, Miss T. Greaves; men’s championship singles, A. Holroyd; women’s championship doubles, Misses B. Craig and E. Low; men’s championship doubles, A. Holroyd and R, M. Broad; combined championship doubles, R. M. Broad and Miss T. Greaves; women’s handicap singles, Miss E. Low; men’s handicap singles, A. Holroyd; women’s handicap doubles, Misses E. Low and D. Sullivan; men’s handicap doubles, H. P. Millward and N. D. Cullen; combined handicap doubles, R. M. Broad and Miss M. Vvakely. The club is indebted to Mrs. W. D. Low, Mrs. E. W. Broad, and Mr. J. T. Owen for giving trophies. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. J. T. Owen; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. E. W. Broad and Mr. C. Evans; club captain, H. M. Broad; committee, Miss T. Greaves, Mrs. A. Holroyd, Miss J. Owen, D. Fisher, A. Holroyd, H. P. Millward; hon. treasurer, Miss B. Craig; hon. secretary, N. D. Cullen; hon. auditor, Mr. H. C. Veitch.
