SENTENCE FOR PACIFIST ACTIVITIES REHEARING OF CASE WELLINGTON, April 12. An appeal by way o£ a rehearing or the case brought by Ormond Edwara Burton, aged 47, minister of religion, was heard in the Supreme Court today before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, against his conviction in the Magistrate’s Court of wilfully obstructing a police officer. The charge arose from an incident; at a meeting of the Christian Pacifist Society at a reserve in Wellington on March 29 and the magistrate imposed sentence of three months' hard labour. Burton conducted his own appeal. Evidence for appellant was being ; heard when the Court adjourned till ; Monday.
