CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS AT AKAROA

Savage, the national Centennial celebrations at Akaroa will take place next Saturday, I when there will be re-enacted before | Lord Galway, Hon. P. Fraser and a I distingushed company, the first exerI cise of sovereignty there. The North Island official party, who will include most of the Ministers of the Crown, ■ members of Parliament and the Consul for France in New Zealand (M. Bouquet) and numbering in all 300, will leave Wellington next Fridaynight fot Akaroa. A party of 40 Maoris, representing natives of the North Island, wik leave Wellington on Thursday night. With the South Island contingent, it is expected that 300 Maoris will be in residence in the Maori camp which has been estab--1 lished in the Rrecreation Ground at I Akaroa. : The celebration has been organised j by the general secretary of the Cenj tennial branch of the Internal Affairs I Dpartment and by the Director of Pageantry Mr, W. S. Wauchop.
