Rev. E. Nicholls, of the Ingestre Street Baptist Church, is visiting Wellington and is assisting to conduct missions at Brooklyn and Island Bay. Jhe Rev. Father C. J. Outtrlm, S. has been elected patron of the Manst Association Football Ciub. Mr. T. F. Ryan was elected president. Mr. F. W. Gould has been re-elected president of the Wanganui Waterside Works’ Union, Mr. H. Beynon vicepresident, and Mr. J. Robertson, secretary. Miss N. Mason, of the dental clinic staff, who has been engaged at the Fordell School for some time, has left for the Hawkes Bay district. Miss Kemp, Christchurch, has arrived at Fordell to take over the dental clinic work. Mr. H. Gedye was elected president of the Wanganui Amateur Road Cycqling Club at the annual meeting and Mr. E. D. Bennett was elected patron. Both have been associated with the club for many years, Mr. Bennett having been patron for the last 12 years and Mr. Gedye having been president ! for four years. Mr. L. V. Carmine, Auckland, and ' formerly of Wanganui, ha* been nomi- ' nated for the position of president of ‘•the New Zealand Rugby Union, and Captain C. L. Mullany, formerly of Taihape, has been nominated for the position as a member oi the council on the same body, by the King Country Rugby Union. Mrs. H. T. Thetford, wife of the late Mr. Henry Thetford, has diea in Wanganui. Mrs. Thetford came to New Zealand 57 years ago in the snip Bombay, landing in Dunedin. She later went to Akito, in Hawke's Bay. Aftci a stay of two years she returned to Dunedin and later went to Nelson, where she married. In 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Thetford, with their family, left Nelson to take up residence in Wanganui, where Mrs. Thetford has lived for the past 37 years. Mrs. Thetford was a member of the Church of Christ for 60 years. She leaves three Isons and five daughters and 17 grandchildren.
