MEETING AT ADDINGTON
PATRIOTIC FIXTURE BRIEF REVIEW OF CARD Good fields are engaged for the combined trotting clubs’ patriotic meeting at Addington to-day, and the carnival promises to provide a successful boost for the funds. An attraction will be the Match Race between four of the leading sprinters in the Dominion, and the size and calibre of the field should allow for a thrilling contest. Betting will be win-and-place. The following may be supported:— Recruit Handicap.—Elite Rey, Reta's Own, Hatrack. Wigram Handicap.—Burt Scott, Blaze Away, Marque. Burnham Handicap. Distributor, Golden River, Sunny Corner. Kaikoura Handicap.—Ringtrue, Accountant, Adversity. Achilles Handicap.—Clockwork, Girl Pat, Rowi. Freyberg Handicap.—Bush Laddie, Anna’s Voyage, Shadeland. Patriotic Handicap.—Axspear, Great Blaze, Trireme. Victory Handicap.—Lady Milne, Gay Avon, Passport. The list of acceptors is as follows: 11.30: Recruit Handicap, £150; 3.39 class; li miles.—Bon Haven, Elite Rey, George Arliss, Reta’s Own, scr.; be held at the Druids’ Hall on Thursday, May 9, at 8 o’clock. The committee decided that all members on active service should be kept financial. A committee meeting will be held at 7 o’clock in the Jockey Club’s rooms on the night of the annual meeting and a social evening at the Druids’ Hall after the annual meeting The course committee reported that the oval and steeplechase course have been limed and that Mr. H. T. Whale had generously given a draught horse to the committee.—A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Whale by acclamation.
