CANADIAN ELECTIONS

THE LIBERAL MAJORITY SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION EXFENDED. Received March 25, 11.30 p.m. OTTAWA, March 25. The election to-morrow is expected to reduce substantially Mr. Mackenzie King’s overwhelming majority. The Liberals will be content it they carry 144 o£ the 245 seats, thus losing 40 and reducing the Ministerial majority to 35. Only super-optimists visualise a majority for Dr. Manion, but some Conservatives believe they will gain enough to create a stalemate. However, impartial observers give Dr. Manion a maximum of 85. I Among the Ministers, Mr. Rogers is lin very serious danger of defeat. I The Pensions Minister, Mr. Mackenzie, j and the Labour Minister, Mr. McI Larty, are also threatened. The campaign is closing in a welter of charges and recriminations. Some politicians’ outbursts have not enhanced their reputations. Because of the abnormally heavy snow, a light rural vote is anticipated.
