EASTER BOWLING

Wanganui Centre’s Tournament SECTION PLAY CONCLUDES EIGHT RINKS QUALIFY Yesterday saw the conclusion of section play in the Wanganui Bowling Centre’s Easter tournament. Perfect weather conditions made the day’s play very enjoyable. There were again some close finishes, and in many instances an extra end was required The final result of yesterday’s play brought eight teams in for post-sec-tion play, which starts at 8.45 a.m. to-day on the St. John’s green. The contest will be on the one-life system and will occupy three rounds. The finnal game should start about 3 p.m. The draw for this morning is:— Svenson plays Engebretsen. Boyd plays Hastings. A. Stone plays Neas. J. Healey plays Bailey Notes On Play. Bailey, of Khandallah, who so far . on all six games played, had a hard light with Anthony, of Castleciiff, to win me seventh round. On the 131 h. end the score was 10 all. Three to Bailey on the last end again made the score level, 14 all. An extra end went to Bailey. Winning the next two games gave Bailey nine wins, the possible, a remarkable achievement. Kerr, of St. John’s, suffered his first defeat in the seventh round when Hastings, of Newtown, severely punished him. By doing this Hastings brought himself an equal number of wins, six each. Losing the next two games put Hastings out of post-section play. Kerr, losing all games yesterday, failed to qualify. Details of yesterday’s play are:— Section A. Seventh Round. » Webby 19 v.
