The Wellington Racing Club's Centennial summer meeting opened at Trentham to-day in line weather before a record crowd. The “gates ’ were more than double the Cup day last year, and the race-books were sold out long before the first race. In the betting on the Cup the totalisator ran out of paper for tickets. The race track was in excellent order and the going was fast. The totalisator handled £87,515 10s, an increase of £30,231 10s over last year's first day total of £57,284.
