OPERA HOUSE

“SUSANNAH OF THE MOUNTIES.” Voted by the audiences throughout the world for the fourth year in succession to be the most popular motion picture star, Shirley Temple takes the title role in "Susannah of the Mounties,” commencing to-day at the Opera House. The story, dealing with the struggle between Indians and “Mountics” at the time of the c. r•Traction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, contains interest for young and old, and besides the inimitable charm of the young star it offers two adult players who are well known to picture-goers. They are Randolph S.ott and Margaret Lockwood. The latter achieved great success in the film “The Lady Vanishes.” An unusual member of the cast is Martin Good Rider, 13-ycar-okl, full-blooded Indian boy, who plays the part of the Little Chief. It is the friendship between Shirley and the Little Chief which averts disaster and provides the climax tc one of the best films of the many in which the small actress has appeared. Other favourites in the cast are J. Farrell MacDonald, Maurice Moscovitch, Moroni Olsen, Victor Jory, and Lester Matthews. The atmosphere of action and excitement as the Mount ies guard the advancing railway construction against the marauding Indians maintains interest in lhe picfinish, and those who have seen “Susannah of the Mounties” agree that no better holiday fare could be screened. The supporting programme is excellent.
