RAPANUI CLUB TOURNAMENT ON MONDAY The Rapanui Bowling Club will hold an all-clay tournament on Monday for the Anniversary Day holiday, and all visiting bowlers will be given a cordial welcome. After the recent rain the green is in splendid order. Afternoon tea, a feature at Rapanui tournaments, w'ill be provided by the ladies.

At Trentham yesterday morning Royal Chief impressed by his appearance and it will not surprise to find him elevated to near favouritism for the Cup, writes “Rangatira” in the Evening Post. Picked up by Moorsotis at the seven furlongs, he ran a mile in lmin. d 2sec., the last half in 52sec., and he finished on too well for his stablemate. ♦ • • * Catalogue, who is holding his condition splendidly, was on the course at Trentham yesterday, but he was exercised only. It is now likey that Lady Montana will run in the Cup, and this race will also be the engagement that The Wrecker meets. Windsor Chief has never looked better and he strode out freely in his pacing. Blonde Princess will probably be started in the sprint.

Among the sprinters the only acceptors not noticed on the track at Trentham yesterday were Amigo, Duncannon, and Night Eruption, but they were expected to put in an appearance during the course of the day. There is no confirmation of the report that Duncannon may not run on the first day, writes “Rangatira.”
