MORE PRACTICAL HELP BEING CONSIDERED. [ British Official Wireless I RUGBY, Dee. 7. The anniversary yesterday of the proclamation of Finland’s independence was the subject of leading articles in several newspapers. The Daily Telegraph and Morning Post says: "Finland kept the anniversary worthily and the world also paid tribute by demonstrating something more than sympathy. President F. D. Roosevelt once more took the occasion to emphasise the moral support which the United States is giving Finland and his hope for the future, and proceeded to study with ins advisers how material help in food supplies could be sent to sustain the Finns in the struggle. The Press leaves no doubt of the indignation of the American people at Russia's outrage anc. their readiness to strengthen the hands ot the administration in giving effect to Finland's resistance. "It has already been made clear that South Amercan States are no less determined to do everything m their power to prevent the aggressor profiting by his aggression. In Scandinavian countries, most deeply and anxiouslv concerned feeling grows hotter. Of much significance are the latest developments of opinion in Italv. There were earlier demonstrations against Russia in Milan, and some have been much more thait endorsed.” The Daily Herald says' ~“ mwentytwo years of social ano political progress* have given Finland highly developed democratic and co-operative institutions, and on her twenty-second birthday her people arc fighting to defend them.” -
