CADETS AND NURSING CADETS ANNUAL BREAKING-UP I Over one hundred cadets and nurs- : ing cadets of the Wanganui East ( j divisions assembled in the Ambulance | Hall, Trafalgar Place, on Tuesday evening last, at the annual breakingiup ceremony. It was pleasing also to ' see a large number of parents present. The evening passed with games and dancing, and at the appropriate time lan excellent supper was served. Cadet-Superintendent Welton proved a very efficient M.C., While the supper arrangements were in the capable ; hands of Mrs. Kendrick and helpers. < Cadet C. Shearer and the four little Cave sisters rendered much appreciated items, after which the trophies and certificates won during the >eai ■were presented. The Scott Cup, for good conduct, 1 was won by Cadet B. McCoy, Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Hawkins, the donors of the two shields, one for the boy and one for the girl gaining highest points in a practical and oral first 1 aid test, were present, and after i briefly addressing the cadets, Mr. Hawkins presented the shields, one to Sergeant Miss L. Willacy, and the ; .other to Cadet H. Weston. The run- 1 ner-up. Cadet Ronald Kendrick, was i presented with the Challenge Shield < by the donor, Cadet H. Weston. 1 Commissioner Brine and DistrictOliicer Mrs. Brine, were present, and ; after thanking the boys and girls for ' their co-o‘peration during the past j year and congratulating them on their 1 successes, and urging them to continue in the good work they had begun, Mr. 1 Brine presented service badges to the foilowing cadets: N. Ruscoe, L. Kaye, 1 I. Kirkland, V. Sargeson. A. Wilks, K. Lewis, L. Welton, W. Sargeson, O. I Robb, H. Weston, A. Wemmy, N. Hubbard, B. Farrington, M. Tattersail. ( Mrs. Brine presented home nursing I certificates to Doreen Kendrick, ? Megan Jones, Elizabeth Springer, Hazel Broadbent, Lyndsay Willacy, I Shirley Broadbent, Winifred Watson, Helen Workman, Gloria Storey, A Dorothy Burbush, Ivy Whiteside, Ngaire Moore, Jean Martin, Beverly 1 Briggs, Gwen Seabrook, and Peggy Butler; and firs', aid certificates to Dorothy Cave, Mary Johnson, 'dolly Gibson, Margery Cave, Betty Gibson, Doreen Kendrick, Jean Ritchie, Barbara Cave, Naida Feik, Ngaire Findlay, E Marjory Worrell, Barbara Neilson, e Brenda Feik, Fay Patton and Betty r Young. 1 /
