BRIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

DANCE RECITAL BY MISS EVA MATTHEWS REVUE LN THE OPERA HOUSE. Music, dancing and song, in fact alt the elements ot bright entertainment were included in the Centennial Revue, a dance recital presented by Miss Eva Matthews, and assisting artists in the Opera House last night. Colourful frocking and grace ol motion were features of the dancing, and the soloists, Miss Lydia Fennell and Mr. E. McClintock, met with warm applause. The curtain rose upon a fancy dress party scene, the first part of the programme consisting of the following dance numbers: “Tin Soldier ana Doll,” by Beverley and Shirley Richards’; Operatic Dance, by Betty Morrison; “Motor Car Boy,” by Ruth Healey; “Little Miss Muffett,” by June Hayhow; tap dance, by Audrey Geofiic; operatic dance, by Mary Duigan; “Fairies Washing Day,” by Patricia Boyd; “Jester,” by Beth Steelman; operatic dance, by June Healey; skipping duo, by Pat Healey and Ngaire Ruscoe; junior tap ballet; “Death of the Stag,” by Lola Bosher; tap dance, by Patricia Boyd; “Little Blue Bird of My Heart,” was sung by Lola Bosher; and “One Day When We Were Young,” by Lydia Fennell. Features of the second part of the programme, which opened with a garden scene, were a demonstration of modern waltz by E. McClintock and E. Matthews, with the song “The OntRose,” and a balancing act by the Blue Aces. A popular duet, “Sympathy,” was sung by Lydia Fennell and Mr. E. McClintock and tap dances were given by Jean Turner and Beverley Richards. Other dances, “Butterfly” and “The Rose,” were contributed by Shirley Richards and Joan Geoflic, and a daffodil and violet ballet was presented. In the classical scene, Shirley Roberts represented the “Fountain,” Lola Bosher the “Oflering,” June and Pat Healey and Ngaire Ruscoe the balloon trio, while the balloon ballet was presented by the juniors. A Blue Danube Ballet, with Misses Anita Stokes, Nan Bahout, Myria and Pat Watts, June Healey and B. McGregor. effectively opened the second half of the programme. Other items were: Operatic dance, by Eva Matthews; hornpipe, by Ngaire Ruscoe; Irish song, by Mr. McClintock; liish jigs, by Pat Healey, Beth Steedman, Pat Boyd, Jean Turner, Lola Bosher, and June Healey; tap dance, by Ngaire Ruscoe; clowning, by the Blue Aces; song by Lydia Fennell; song and dance by Lola Bosher, tap dance by June Healey; and a song, “Play , Fiddle Play,” by Lola Bosher. A striking gypsy scene opened the final items, which were contributed by Mr. D. Muir, violin solo; Lydia Fennell, song; Pat Healey, “Spanish Dancer": duet, “Drifting and Dreaming," Lydia Fennell and Mr. McClintock, with tango ballet, in Santa Lucia; and a tambourine ballet.
