“FLAG DAY” APPEAL
ARRANGEMENTS IN WANGANUI STREET COLLECTION TO RE TAKEN CP A meeting of the committee set up to organise “Flag Day" in Wanganui, has held its first meeting. The purpose of “Flag Day” is to raise funds for the soldiers’ Christmas comforts. The appeal will take the form of a street collection in Wanganui on Wednesday of next week (December 13), and the committee invites the assistance of ladies who are willing to help. It. is suggested that the collectors should each be asked to serve for two hours at the points selected in the city, and those willing to help are asked to submit their names to the Red Cross office in Victoria Avenue on Friday next, ’phone 2481. Th.e Red Cross office has been fixed as the depot on the collection day. Those who are willing to undertake a house-to-house collection in the suburbs are asked to submit their names |to the City Council office, ’phone 2181 or 2182, not later than Friday of this week. The treasurer of the fund in Wanganui, Mr. G. Murch, acknowledges' receipt of £5 5s from the Wanganui Savage Club.
