OBITUARY
————— MRS. MARI Fl LTON The death has occurred at Pukekohe of Mr. Mary Fulton, wife of Mr. Robert Fulton, of Hall Street, Pukekohe. Mrs. Fulton was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Woods, who arrived in Auckland by the ship Dauntless in 1865 and settled first at Howick. Mr. Woods served in the Maori War and later accepted a Government grant of 10 acres of land at Pukekohe. The land was m standing bush then, and the settlers were camped together in a clearing which is now bounded by Queen Street, Ward Street and Wellington Street. It was there that Mrs. Fulton was born. Her early years were spent on a farm her parents acquired about mid-way between Pukekohe and Patumahoe, and she became an ardent worker for the Presbyterian Church and Sunday school at Patumahoe. although this involved an eight-mile walk to attend. Her marriage to Mr. Fulton took place in 1900, and for the following 23 years they lived at Puni. Pukekohe. They then retired and took up their residence in Hall Street. Mrs. Fulton is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters.
