M. Silk, with I a 69 gross on plus two was 2 up but could only tie with F. C. Hutchison (gross 70 on scratch) and D. G. Young. 1 In the B Grade F. Freeman and D. ' McNeil tied with 1 up. Four-Ball Match A four-ball match was played during the week-end in aid of the treeplanting fund. The trophies were two pewter tankards which had been given for club competition. Fraser and E. R. Dix, 5 up. CASTLECLIFF CLUB MEDAL MAT( H PLAYED MIXED CANADIAN FOURSOME A medal match was played in two divisions by the Castlecliff Golf Clun on Saturday. In the senior section. W. Shardlow returned the best not score and won the Millward Cup, and P. Beach returned the best net score among the juniors and won lhe Vicepresident’s Cup. played over the week-end and was very successful. The weather was perfect, and the entries were excellent. A feature of the day was a "hole-in-one" at the I.3th. by L. Ennis. WANGANUI VETERANS’ TOURNAMENT COMMENCEMENT TO-DAY DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND The first round for the Wanganui Veterans’ Cup will be played at the Belmont links this morning. The cup is won by the player with the best aggregate over two stroke rounds of 15 holes. Matches will commence at the first tee but competitors fill not play numbers 4, 5 and 6, going from the third green to the seventh. Handicaps will be reduced by one-sixth.
