Mr. S. Cass, of Auckland, is a visitor to Wanganui. Mr. Cass is a former captain of the Wanganui Rowing Club. Mr. F. N. Stace, editor of the New Zealand Electrical Journal, returned to Wellington yesterday after a brief visit to Wanganui. Mr. W. J. Rogers, Mayor of Wanganui, left for Wellington last night and expects to return to Wanganui to-night. Dr. Ulric Williams, of Wanganui, is a visitor to Christchurch, where he will deliver a public lecture to-mor-row night. Mr. R. L. Gillies, superintending engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand Ltd., has returned to Wellington after an extended visit to Australia. Mr. J. Kennedy, of Karioi, who recently returned from a six months’ trip abroad, took his seat at yesterday's monthly meeting of the Wanganui County Council, when he was extended a hearty welcome by the chairman (Mr. A. H. Collins) and councillors. At the recent meeting of the Board of Governors of. Canterbury Agricultural College the chairman (Mr. W. O. Rennie) referred to the recent death of Mr. D. J. Sidey, a former student of the college and a member of the lecturing staff for the last 12 years, and formerly of Wanganui. Mr. Rennie said that. Mr. Sidey had been one of the most valued members of the instructional staff. He was a keen student of stock and a research worker into stock troubles, and his death meant a severe loss to the college. On the motion of the chairman a vote of condolence with Mr. Sidey’s relatives was adopted.
