The injured man was Mr. G. Fairbrother, aged 62 of Manoeka, Te Puke. No one at the station saw the accident, but several passengers noticed the last-minute leap and informed the guard, who telephoned to Te Puke from the next station. The staff at i Te Puke were about to commence a search when Mr. Fairbrother appeared, having staggered along the line about five chains. It is assumed that > when he fell from the train he struck < his head on a pile of rails by the side i of the lino. Hi s condition this morning was satisfactory. '.
