OVE RS LEP T STA TIO N ELDERLY MAN INJURED TE PUKE, July 16. When an elderly man travcJLng on the Tj Puke-Taneatua express or. Friday evening overslept and leapt from the train as it dr«-w out of the station yard, he su_t.lined a broker, shoulder and gashes te the headwhich necessitated his removal tc the Tauranga Hospital. The injured man was Mr. G. Fairbrother, aged 62 of Manoeka, Te Puke. No one at the station saw the accident, but several passengers noticed the last-minute leap and informed the guard, who telephoned to Te Puke from the next station. The staff at i Te Puke were about to commence a search when Mr. Fairbrother appeared, having staggered along the line about five chains. It is assumed that > when he fell from the train he struck < his head on a pile of rails by the side i of the lino. Hi s condition this morning was satisfactory. '.
