WANGANUI ASSOCIATION ( OMPETITION ADVANCED RESULTS ON SATURDAY Another series of matches in the Wanganui Basketball Association’s competitions was played on Saturday under fine weather conditions. In the seniors, Past Students sprang a surprise by defeating Technical Old Girls. Y.M.C.A. had no difficulty in defeating Glencoe. Technical College defeated Nga Ton by only 7 goals. In the junior grade the main gamp was the long-looked-for meeting of Glencoe and Convent. Played under ideal conditions, with both teams at full strength, and at a torrid pace for junior players. Convent, after holding the lead for most of the time, finally won by one goal. This is Glencoe’s first defeat of the season. The only junior team to defeat. Nga Toa did very well to hold Intermediate to a draw, 22-al I. The following are the scores: - Seniors Tech. College 23, v. Nga Toa 16. Y.M.C.A. 31, v. Glencoe 7. Past Students 29, v. Tech. Old Girls 26. Juniors Convent 23, v. Glencoe 22. McKenzie's 30, v. Tech. College 17. Fordell 30, v. Past Students 20. Tech. Old Girls 13, v. Marian 4. Y.M.C.A. 25, v. Nga Toa 7. Thirds Glencoe 14, v. Convent B 14. St. Peter’s 18, v. Convent A 16. Fourths Convent B 28, v. Antonians 2. Convent A 16, v. Cambridge 13. Intermediate 22. v. Nga Toa 22. Marian 23, v. Y.M.C.A. 13. St. Peter's 13, v. Tech. College B 9. Southern Cross won by default from Tech. College A. Mato’i at Palmerston North On Saturday, Warnock’s visited Palmerston North and played a friendly game with a team from Knitex, Ltd. The game was very evenly contested and Warnock’s were victorious by two goals, the score being 13 to 11 i.n their favour.
