AUCKLAND HORSES FOR RICCARTON PROSPECTS OF TUTOR. AUCKLAND, July J 5. I Royal Appellant is an unlikelistarter in the Winter Cup, although there is nothing the matter with him. It is more than likely that he will be kept at home for spring engagements, and while tracks are easy he may win more than one stake, for the cailj spring prizes are worth more than the winter ones. It is not known yet whether Agog ■ will be taken south for lhe Grand National Hurdles, but after his let-up it is doubtful if he will be thoroughly tuned up for such a tiring race. This gelding was to go under the hammer at Pukekohe last week and if lie changes hands it w ill be up to his new' • owner to decide upon the late winter ; and spring campaign. i Nothing has been heard of the young gallopers Olympus and Beau Repaire since the autumn, but now it is possible that they will go across to Australia for the spring meeting. It is suggested that they will be in charge of trainer F. D. Jones, who goes over early next month with Royal Chief and Moorsotis, Olympus is rising four and he is very fast. Beau Repaire, a halt-brother by Beau Pere to Royal Chief, may develop into an A.J.C. Derby prospect. Stamina of Tutor. A feature of Tutor's two outings at Trentham was the strong manner in which he completed his tasks and this glimpse of form has induced his owner to tackle the Riccarton trip next month. In all his races Tutor has displayed signs of stamina, even when racing on the flat among the hacks, and in distance jumping events he nlay be good enough to earn slake money. Present intentions arc not to take All Irish to Riccarton for the Grand National meeting, for he did not do well while away at Trentham and it may be necessary to give him a short let-up. Such being the case it is not likely ihat he will be seen in action again before the spring meeting at Ellerslie, when he will doubtless be on hand for the cross-country event. All Irish will always be at his best over distances below' three miles, and they are not many, so he may be tried as a hurdler also. Two disappointments at the backend of the current season in Knight of Australia and Bonnybelle have reported back for duty at Ellerslie. It was thought that the former would be | i well in line for a hurdle race, for he I had shown promise, and perhaps he will make amends during the spring. Bonnybelle has yet to win a race, and her second in a hack division at the Great Northern meeting indicated that she has more stamina than earlier outings suggested. She may pick up a maiden stake in the early spring. Sebrof, who had to be retired temporarily through bleeding trouble, is in active work at. headquarters and so far he has shown no recurrence of i this weakness. He is a brilliant gal- • loper and he would only have to keep ' on as he is doing to be right in the ’ money next season. However, there is • always a doubt, and it remains to be ' seen if he has got over his disability. , If this should prove to be the case he i may be tried as a jumper.
