RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB

COMMITTEE MEETING HELD NEW STAND INSPECTED (Own Correspondent.), A meeting of the general committee of the Rangitikei Racing Club was held in the stewards' stand on Friday last, Mr. Rex D. McKelvie presiding over a good attendance of members. Mr. Robin Hood, of Palmerston North architect for the alterations and additions to the building, also attended, and an inspection was made, Mr. Hood being warmly congratulated on the up-to-date stand which ho had planned. A tribute was also paid to the good work of the contractor, Mr. J. H. Jensen, of Marton, and subcontractors working under his instructions. Before commencing the general business the chairman referred to the death of Mr. J. H. Perrett, and moved , that a record be made in the minutes of the club of Mr. Perrett’s valuable and faithful services to the club over a period of forty years in various capacities, and for over 30 years on the New Zealand Racing Conference. A motion of sympathy with Mrs. Perrett and family was passed in silence, all standing. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. J. R. L. Stanford, delegate to the New' Zealand Racing Conference, for his very comprehensive report of proceedings at the recent conference meeting. Mr. A. W. Amon was appointed to the vacancy of vice-president brought about by the death of Mr. J. H. Peirett. Mr. Amon will fill the position until the end of lhe present racing season, when he will come up for reelection. It was decided to purchase a new jockeys’ scale, and also to lend hurdles to the Rangitikei Hunt Club for a point-to-point meeting. The chairman, on behalf of the stewards, wished Mr. Q. O. Wilson and his future wife every happiness, and handed to Mr. Wilson a handsome engraved piece of plate as a token of their esteem. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting of members on Friday, August 25.
