RED ( ROSS SOCIETY MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the executive of the Raetihi sub-centre of the above was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday’ evening. The Wanganui sub-centre sent particulars of the official opening of their training rooms, with an invitation to Raetihi members to be present. Arrangements are also being made for Raetihi Red Cross members to visit Ohakune to meet St. John members there, and it is hoped that the two organisations will, by co-operating, be able Io purchase equipment needed in the district. The monthly bulletin from headquarters was read and discussed. Il was decided to order a number of copies of “Your Magazine." the journal of ihe N.Z. Red Cross. Some of these will be distributed free to schools in the district. Nine new; members were elected, making a total membership of 69. Of these 43 are taking first aid instruction and 17 homo nursing. It was decided to commence regular visits to uiiients in hospital, particular attention to be given to the needs of those whose homes are at a distance. A number of members have already expressed their willingness to help in this work, but more are needed. Those willing Io assist are requested to communicate with the secretary who will arrange a “rota” so that no one will be overburdened with work. Traffic regulations and road safety were discussed, it being pointed out that prevention of accidents is much more important than rendering first aid afterwards. It was decided to resume the discussion at next meeting, after which any suggestions which might prove of value will be forwarded on Io headquarters. The secretary reported on his visit to headquarters, where various matters were discussed with the Dominion secretary. Regarding equipment. Captain Galloway offered to lend from Wellington Centre a wheel chair if required here before one can be purchased by the local branch. Membership transfer forms were obtained from headquarters so that any member leaving Raetihi may now. on application to the secretary, be transferred to the branch nearest to his new ;ilace of residence.
