WEDDINGS

VERNON—ADAMS All Saints’ Church, Wanganui East, was decorated with white and pink chrysanthemums and ferns, and white ribbons signifying the pews for the guests, on Saturday evening, May 6, for the wedding of Miss Elsie Margaret Adams, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Adams, Young Street, Wanganui East, to Mr. Ivan Trevor Martin, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Vernon, Koromiko Road, Gonville, Wanganui. The Rev. A. F. R. Parr officiated at the ceremony and Miss Dunlop played the wedding music.

A frock of ivory satin was worn by the bride. Fashioned on slim-fitting lines, it had a heart-shaped neckline, lace yoke forming a ruched front. Satin buttons from the back of the neck to the waist, and from elbow to wrist of the sleeves was the only trimming. The long train had a scalloped edge. The embroidered and embossed veil worn by the bride was a gift from Mrs. H. Dunstall. The bouquet was of white lilies, carnations, sweet peas, roses, nerines and maidenhair fern. Mr. Adams escorted his daughter. Misses Edna Crawshaw, Betty Corley, and Jessie Pitt (cousin of the bride) attended as bridesmaids. Lilac hailstone taffeta made their attractive frocks, which bad large puff sleeves, heart-shaped necklines, ruched bodices and full circular skirts. They wore halos of silver cord and leaves with lilac flowers, silver shoes. Their necklaces of crystal were gifts from the bridegroom. Bouquets of pink roses, nerines, belladonna lilies, violets and fern were carried. Mr. Jim Pitt (cousin of the bride), was best man and Messrs. Gordon Berryman and Lindsay Corley were groomsmen. The ushers were Messrs. Howard Vernon and Ron Nixon. At the reception held at the Victoria Hall, St. Hill Street, the bride's mother received the guests. She was wearing a black nd white ensemble, black velour hat with while feather and eyeveil, fur stole, and held a bouquet ot violets, mauve pansies and chrysanthemums.
