OPPATT-HUGHES

The wedding took place recently at the Church of Christ, Wanganui, when Doris Evelyn, daughter of Mr. A S Hughes and the late Mrs. Hughes, of Nixon Street, Wanganui East, was married to Allan Robert, son of Mrs. Oppatt and the late Mr. R. P. Oppatt, of Palmerston North, the ceremony being conducted by Mr. G. Fretwell. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a graceful gown of white embossed cloque, cut on close-fitting lines the heart-shaepd neck being finished with a posy of orange blossom, and two white brilliant clips. '1 he gathered bodice, which was brought to a high waistline, was finished with a row of tiny’covered buttons, as also were the long, plain sleeves, which came to a point over the hands, the plain fitting skirt falling to a graceful train. The richly embroidered veil was held in place by a halo coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf bouquet of white Easter lilies.
