N.Z. BADMINTON TEAM REV. H. W. AUSTIN APPOINTED MANAGER EAKLV INTEREST IN SUOKI. The Rev. H. W. Austin, c haplain a the Wanganui Collegiate School has been appointed manager of the New Zealand badminton team to tour Autralian in .July and August. The personnel of the team will oe announced on July 10. With the Ven. Archdeacon Creed Meredith, now in England, but formerly Archdeacon in the Waitotara parish, Wanganui, the Rev. Austin established badminton in New Zealand. The first club was formed at the Wanganui Collegiate School gymnasium in 1926. The sport soon became popular and has spread ovei th* whole Dominion, with increasing membership each year. Mr. Austin is president, of the Wan ganui Badminton Association ano i past president, of the New Zealand Badminton Federation. Hp is a'so i first-class exponent of the gam*' Mr. Austin's appointment was mad* at the annual meeting of tho Ne* Zealand Badminton Federation. h*l'i at Wellington during the week-end.
