Murchie, at Hamilton. Mrs. E. A. Millward, Wanganui, was a visitor to Auckland this week. Miss B. Fleming, New Plymouth, is visiting Wanganui. Mrs. J. Scanlon, Argyle Street, who has been visiting Masterton and Featherston, has returned home. Miss Trevor Hunter, Wanganui, is visiting Nelson, where she is the guest of her mother, Mrs. A. J. Banks, Korere. * * * * Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Masters, St. John’s Hill will leave to-day on a visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. M. Bourne, St. John’s Hill, is spending a holiday in Hastings as the! guest o£ her sister, Mrs. R. Hislop. * » * » I Miss Pearl Reid, of Auckland, who has been the guest of Mrs. C. Woolven, of Okirae, left yesterday for Hawera, where she will spend a few days with Mrs. T. Stockwell before returning home. Mrs. Freeman Jackson and Miss Judith Jackson, of Wanganui, who have been visiting friends at Fendalton, Christchurch, went on to Fairlie during the week-end and are the guests there of Mrs. Edward Inman. * * * * Mrs. J. H. Salmon, St. John's Hill, accompanied by her husband, sailed t>y the Awatea yesterday on an extended holiday in Australia. After a motoring tour through Queensland a visit will be paid to California. A jolly’ picture party, followed by supper at the Royal Williows, was given in honour of Miss Joyce Reynolds, prior to her departure from Wanganui. Miss Reynolds, who is to oe married early next month, was the recipient of a small gift from her friends. * * * * The Misses Hawkins tMangaweka) spent Easter in Scotland with their brother, Squadron-Leader Hawkins. Miss Noel Hawkins, who has been studying singing abroad has returned to London where she is doing mannequin and model work. Owing to the illness of her mother, Miss Noel has cancelled an engagement with one o£ | the leading Paris fashion houses. Miss Claudine, who is studying art at Slade School, University, London, has been admitted to Professor Schwake’s classes. Miss Hawkins intends later going to Paris to study design. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Neilson, of "Mt. Zion." Okoia, who joined the "Reso” party for a month’s tour of Australia, returned to New Zealand by the Wanganella last week. The party, numbering about 35, had a wonderful time, and they found the Australian people most hospitable, cars being put at their disposal. Journeying through Victoria and the N.S.W. State, they met a number of New Zealanders and former Wanganui-ites. Mrs. Neilson stayed in Wellington for a week before returning to Wanganui. She was the guest of Mrs. Frank Thomas, of Brooklyn. A conference of Christian Youth is to be held in Amsterdam, at the end of July, and 17 delegates are expected from New Zealand. The Y.M.C.A. diegates are Miss Rosemary Ross (Dunedin), and Miss Claire Longmore (Wellington). Representatives of the Student Christian Movement will be Mr. Harold Baker (Gisborne), Miss Sheila McMillan (Dunedin), Rev. M. Tasker (Auckland), Mr. P. Kelly (Wellintgon), Miss K. Wood (Wellington), and possibly Mr. A. Prior (Dunedin and Masterton). Other delegates to the conference -will include Rev. R. Thornley and Mrs. Thornley, Miss Phyllis Grant (Waihi). : Miss Edna Ginn (Wanganui), Mr. J. Marshall (Wellington), and Mr. J. Stevenson (Wellington). 1 ] ] ] .
