“Mortals and Immortals” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all i Churches, of Christ, Scientist, on Sun- ■ day, May 14. The golden text was II Corin. 5.4, “We that are in this tabernacle do ■ groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed . upon, that mortality might be swal- , lowed up of life.” Among the which com- j prised the lesson-sermon were the ! following from the Bible, “As for me, 1 I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” (Psalm 17:15.) Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, ' “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, I “The real man is spiritual and im- : mortal, but the mortal and imperfect j so-called ‘children of men’ are coun- ; terfeits from the beginning, to be laid ■ aside for the pure reality. This mortal ; is put off, and the new man or real ■ man is put on, in proportion as mor- , tals realise the science of man and j seek the true model.” (p. 409.) (
