WEDDINGS
WAGSTAFF—BROWN St. Laurence’s Church, Aramoho, on Saturday, the 22nd., was the scene of a very pretty wedding, that of Kathleen Mary, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Brown, Bulls, to Arthur Firth, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Wagstaff, Wanganui. The Rev. Godfrey performed the ceremony. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father. She wore an exquisite gown of ivory silk chenille velvet, the bodice closely moulded to the figure featuring a lace-trimmed square neckline and puff sleeves, the circular skirt falling in soft folds from a corseleted waistline. Her beautifully embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of orchids, roses, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Attending the bride was Miss Shirley Wagstaff, sister of the bridegroom. She wore a charming frock of lime green ri]/led ninon over taffeta. The frock was fashioned with a high Peter Pan collar, the front of the bodice being fastened with a row of tiny buttons, puff sleeves, and the skirt gathered fully into the waistline, which was finished with a sash backed with lemon. She wore a coronet of lemon Howers and carried a bouquet of lemon-shaded chrysanthemums, roses, and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. Scott, as best man, and Mr. A. Firth acted as usher. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s sister. Mrs. Aiken, Duncan Street, Wanganui East. The wedding cake was a gift of a friend of the bride, Mrs. A. E. Grant, Gonville. Mrs. Brown received her guests wearing a model frock of black figured romaine. Her bouquet was of scarlet dahlias, miniature chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Wagstaff assisting her, wore a teal blue coat over a rose pink afgalaine frock, and her bouquet was composed of shaded pink chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Aiken, sister of the bride, was wearing a model frock of saxc blue trimmed with petunia, and Mrs. Firth, grandmother of the bridegroom, wore a smart black costume. Both carried shaded posies, the former choosing scarlet and the latter mauve. For travelling, the bride chose a smart navy coat over a navy figured georgette frock, peach bloom breton sailor hat, and accessories to match.
