SENSATIONAL STORY DIED ON EVE OF MUNICH TALKS “DOUBLE” CARRYING ON ANONYMOUS PUBLICATION (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] NEW YORK, March 3. A sensational, anonymous book published to-day by the Macaulay Company declared that Hitler was murdered on the eve of the historic Munich conference, and that a “double” had been impersonating the Fuhrer ever since. The book, titled “The Strange Death of Adolf Hitler,” says that Hitler ate a poisoned omelet on September 18. The story Is not signed, but the publisher’s foreward says It is a translation of a manuscript smuggled out of Germany and written by Maximilian Bauer, who allegedly has an amazing resemblance to Hitler.
