RAETIHI FOOTBALL CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING (Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, March 5. The annual meeting of the Raetihi Rugby Football Club, which was held at the Druids’ Hall, was presided over by Mr. W. G. Watson. There was a good attendance. An apology was received from the club’s patron, Mr. B. A. Drury. The president, alter welcoming members. referred to the loss to Rugby by the passing of Mr. Frank Glasgow, an old member of the Raetihi Club. Members stood in silence for a few moments at the close of the president's remarks. The president then read the annual report, which stated, inter alia:—

"The 1938 season, although not perhaps outstanding in respect to the winning of competitions by the various teams, has proved quite a satisfactory one, the membership being sufficient to enter a third grade team, while the financial position has also greatly improved as shown by the attached statement of receipts and payments. Although the cash in hand of £56 0s Id may seem quite inadequate, it is hoped that this figure will be increased still further when consideration of obtaining training facilities for the players can be undertaken by the club.

"Congratulations are due to the junior and third grade 7-a-side teams for winning the respective sections ot the Taumarunui tournament, while the junior won the Riverhead Gold Cup for obtaining the highest average points per game for the 1938 season. Not only are these teams to be congratulated but also the managers for the enthusiastic manner in which they have carried out their duties." The following were elected officers of the club: —
